He was born in Milan in 1970. He studied violin with S. Minella and graduated from the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Milan. He also studied composition with G. Possio and G. Giuliano and Electronic Music with R. Sinigallia. From 1989-91 he specialised in string quartet, chamber music and composition with Piero Farulli, Milan Skampa and Franco Donatoni at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, Accademia Chigiana of Siena and IRCAM in Paris. He is currently working on a video-opera commissioned by IRCAM – Centre Pompidou and the Ensemble Intercontemporain that shall be staged on December 2004 in Paris. He is also working on a piece for oboe and chamber music orchestra commissioned by the United Europe Chamber Orchestra that shall be performed on December 4 at the Sala Verdi of the Conservatory of Milan. He received many international awards amongst others: Jury’s Prize at the Concorso Città di Pavia (1990), First Prize at the Edvard Grieg Competition for Young Composers (Oslo 1995), Jury’s Prize at the Concorso Castello di Belveglio (1996), Composer’s Arena (Amsterdam 1997), Città di Udine (1998), Pomeriggi Musicali - 5 giovani compositori per il Giubileo (Milano 2000), Klangforumwien-prize (1998), Gaudeamus Music Week (Amsterdam 2000), premio Camillo Togni (Brescia 2000 e 2002), Comité de lecture IRCAM – Ensemble Intercontemporain (Paris 2001).
