Alberto Laurenti has founded the Piccola Orchestra Romana (made up of ten elements) to reinterpret, with a mix of gipsy rumba and ethnic influences, the history of Roman song from 1300 to present times.
This all happened thanks to the close collaboration with Massimo Micheli, nephew of Giuseppe Micheli historian of the Roman song, and the opportunity to consult their precious private library and also to play instruments from different areas of the world with a Mediterranean echo.
The purpose is to place Rome at the centre of the Mediterranean civilization by restoring its cultural dignity as already happened with the Neapolitan and the Salento music.
Roma Concerto is a project that will be composed by ten volumes, of which “Le Serenate” (Serenades) is the first release, pointed to the revaluation and the diffusion of the rich legacy of the popular Roman song.
